Steve_O
Hello to all, I have a problem with my P410 controller. I just installed the p410 controller, from my old (and dead) N40L, on my new gen 10. But for some reason i only get the "controller initialising screen", of couple of seconds, it reboots by itself. Seems to be in a loop. Anybody got this combo working? (i hope it does work, i have 7Tb of data on my raid 5 array...) Kind regards, Steve

I will try to get access to the config menu, to see the version number if the card lets me. Is there a list with supported cards? I was thinking to buy the (newer) p222, its on the second hand market for 99€. Kind regards,
Steve_O
I had a talk with HPE support. only model e208i-p will work in it. https://www.hpe.com/us/en/product-catalog/servers/smart-array-controllers-and-smart-host-bus-adapters/pip.specifications.hpe-smart-array-e208i-p-sr-gen10-8-internal-lanes-no-cache-12g-sas-pcie-plug-in-controller.1010026918.html This is a real setback, looking at the prices, it costs in europe about 350€... Think i will look for a second hand N54L, for 350€ i can buy 3 of them :-D Edited September 25, 2017 by Steve_O

Will need to research the e208i-p.

WafflesMcDuff
I tried installing a SmartArray P420 PCIe controller in my Gen10 with different, but equally dismal results. The card initializes and shows up in SmartStorage Administrator. The logical volumes get presented to the OS. BUT, after being on for a while, the server reboots. iLO showed the card as Storage Controller (Unknown Product info) IML shows the following: PCI Bus Uncorrectable PCI Express Error Detected. Slot 3 (Segment 0x0, Bus 0x11, Device 0x0, Function 0x0). 09/19/2020 16:25:19 2 Hardware CPU Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 1, APIC ID 0x00000000, Bank 0x00000006, Status 0xFB800000'00000E0B, Address 0x00000000'00000000, Misc 0x00000000'11000000). 09/19/2020 16:24:10 2 Hardware UEFI Uncorrectable Error Detected on the Previous Boot. Error information logged to the Integrated Management Log. 09/19/2020 16:24:10 2 Hardware System Error Unrecoverable I/O Error has occurred. System Firmware will log additional details in a separate IML message entry if possible. 09/19/2020 16:15:13 1 Hardware CPU Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 1, APIC ID 0x00000000, Bank 0x00000006, Status 0xBB800000'00000E0B, Address 0x00000000'00000000, Misc 0x00000000'11000000). 09/19/2020 16:24:04 2 Hardware So I suspect this is another case of a P4xx SmartArray being incompatible with Gen10 Hardware
