Karlos
Im not sure really where to go and was hoping for some help on pricing if its allowed here. i have a gen8 HP proliant micro server. im looking at selling it for a few reasons. i need the money for kids medical bills, and i was under utilising its capabilities, so therefore it was overkill for what i needed. ive had a look an completed listings on ebay and with such a big range in pricing, im hoping some people here that live and breathe these machines could give me some advice. ive removed the celeron it had when i bought it and it is now running a Xeon E3-1265L V2 16GB RAM (Kingston KTH-PL316E/8G) has a AMD 6450(from memory) GPU. (was able to out put video from my windows 10 HTPC VM to my TV) 8GB USB drive internally for ESXi 6 a Seagate Barracuda 3TB a WD Red 2TB and Kingston SSDnow V+ 120GB SSD i had one of the drives setup as storage for server 2012 VM the other as storage for the windows 10 HTPC and the SSD to have the OS Partitions as well as SOPHOS firewall. it didnt get a tonne of usage and has been out of commission for over a year now. ive recently fired it all back up and cleaned the VMS out and formatted the drives with 7x pass drive eraser. can anyone give me some help with a value or price point on this thing? thanks in advance. ucliker
It really depends on the demand. It may be worth $800 but you probably won't get that much unless someone is seriously committed to purchasing a gen 8 with those specs.
Trig0r
Its crap over here in the Uk as well, I tried many times to get rid of mine, all I managed to sell was the P222 and the 16Gb RAM.. Doesnt help that the Gen8 is still on cashback, people dont wanna pay more than £80-90 for the base unit.
schoondoggy
In what part of the world are you located? I would start with an ebay search of completed auctions to see what they are selling for near me: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=microserver+gen8&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=55016&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_sop=15&_dmd=1&_ipg=50 You may make more money parting it out. E3-1265L v2 are selling at $160-$200. The memory is a odd, $60-$75 for the pair or $30-$60 for each stick?! SSD is $30-$35. WD 2TB Red $40-$60. Seagate 3TB $30-$50. netware5
Yeah, you are in Australia .... In any case shipment to Europe or USA of MS or parts will be expensive ...
