I thought it was quiet unless I worked it hard then I could hear the fan spin up.

As Gen7 owner I am mostly worried about PSU fan noise. I want to upgrade to G10 but have doubts if there is any difference between two in this category. Do you think Gen 10 is quieter than Gen 7 when not under heavy load?

How much memory do you have? Filezilla server or client? Are you moving files, what are you doing on the server?

it's the filezilla client for me, but I think the true pb is firefox (One firefox launch but 3 process with 25% each) only for surf !!!!

hello,

I switch to chrome instead of firefox, it's a little better but always 98 to 100% cpu used (it's a 3216). I have 8Go of memory.

I put a SSD, better access now but the problem is always the CPU.

If I but some extra memory, will my perf better ??

Generally more memory helps. Have you checked memory usage to see if it is maxed out?

hello,

CPU usage - 98% to 100% most of time

Memory - 50% most if time

Disk - 10-20% most of time (thanks to the ssd ...)

So I'm not very sure that memory can help me .

Process in use : Kaspersky, Chrome (around 8 tabs), filezilla client.

I think the AMD 3216 is not very very efficient :-(

Tomorrow I will update the bios..maybe...

It is hard to say if adding memory will help as it is not peaking. What apps are using the most CPU? Can you post a screen shot of CPU usage by app, highest to lowest?

Are you using the MS Gen10 as a client or a server?

The 3216 is an entry level CPU similar to the base CPU on many entry level servers. That level of CPU may not be up to the tasks you are wanting to do on this system.

      Hi everyone.

      New to this forum.
I have a gen8 microserver running at home, where I have installed an SSD in the ODD sata slot. On the SSD I have installed Ubuntu Server 18.04.
I have then created a logical volume witht the raid controller and can then boot to the SSD. So far so good.
My problem emerges when I reboot the system. The logical volume disapears and it gives the error: "boot logical drive is configured but is missing or offline".
I then have to go into the utility and reconfigure the logical volume. Kind of annoying, when trying to run a headless setup.

      Good day all

i bought a gen 10 x3216 MicroServer and I have been trying to install windows server 2016 on it with a usb and I get it to boot into the usb with the iso on it but I can not get past the one install step where u supposed to select the drive.

instead it says to download storage drivers and browse to select driver. I have downloaded every single storage driver from the hpe site or is sure does feel like it.

if I try to select the driver I have to do so manually by unticking show only compatible drivers because if I leave it ticked there is nothing compatible. Iam stumped on what the correct driver is.

ok so what Iam trying to do isssssss I want to install the os onto the usb that I have attached inside the box the one that is directly coming off the board. Is that a different driver ?

In bios/boot up options I can see all usb connected.

can anyone please help me with this

      Greetings,

I'm new to the HPMSG8 world and so far I'm loving it. I have a stock Xeon with 16G of aftermarket memory with iLO patched to 2.70. Next up is adding a RAID card, so I can put my boot SSD on the onboard RAID. I picked up a LSI SAS9211-8i on Amazon, but am struggling to flash it to IT mode on the MicroServer. Is this even possible? Unfortunately, the only other system I have with PCI slots is 32-bit.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
