Hey

I've just received a Gen10 to replace my aging N40. I'd previously acquired a couple of 16GB sticks for a previous project that I was hoping to repurpose into the new box but it won't boot with either of them. Both have worked previously in 'full' HP servers and have HPE stickers so I'm guessing there's some incompatibility I'm not seeing...

I've tried both of them individually as well as a pair and no joy.

The first is HMA82GR7AFR8N

Second is MTA18ASF2G72PDZ-2G6D1SK

I'm hoping there's either a bios update or tweak that could make them work?

Thanks

The modules you have are both registered; RDIMM. The MS Gen10 requires unregistered modules; UDIMM.

I installed 2 x [Kingston ValueRAM 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 2400 RAM (Server Memory) ECC UDIMM (288-Pin) KVR24E17D8/16] for 32GB RAM total in my MicroServer Gen10 X3421.

My Gen10 with X3216 has one module of 8GB installed.
OS is Windows Server 2019.

Any idea why it shows me only approx. 6.96GB available RAM in Server Manager (same in properties of System)?

Does the GPU (driver?) grab too much of the physical RAM?

Any setting in UEFI BIOS that can cause this high RAM assignment to some hardware? (I didn't install any new hardware, except for SSD and HDDs)

If I remember correctly, these AMD CPU's reserve about 1G of memory for graphics.

I do not think there is a way to change the reserve.

      Greetings,

I'm new to the HPMSG8 world and so far I'm loving it. I have a stock Xeon with 16G of aftermarket memory with iLO patched to 2.70. Next up is adding a RAID card, so I can put my boot SSD on the onboard RAID. I picked up a LSI SAS9211-8i on Amazon, but am struggling to flash it to IT mode on the MicroServer. Is this even possible? Unfortunately, the only other system I have with PCI slots is 32-bit.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, I have just installed Windows Server 2019 Standard (Desktop Experience) using the latest (WS2016) HP AMD chipset & VGA driver. Everything is recognised in Device Manager and stable.

I need to update the firmware on a HP Proliant Microserver Remote Access Card installed in my N40L.

Can someone please explain what I need to do to create a boot device that will update the firmware on the Remote Access Card?

      Thanks
