What do you mean by, "You shouldn't need to allocate rersources anywhere in ESX - it's much better than you at doing that in most cases."? 

It means just that. ESX is very good at scheduling CPU usage to VMs - the only time I've ever needed to mess with it is in the server farm at work with over 1000 VMs where I've wanted to guarantee CPU performance to a SQL group.

 

 

I installed ESX when I frst got the Microserver and it worked ok, but due to it not being fully supported (and the fact I wanted to get used to Hyper-V)  I've got Hyper-V installed now with two VMs (file server and web server) and it runs them fine.
