Memory for Microserver Gen8

If it's any help to anyone in the future I picked up 2 x 8gb Crucial CT8G3W186DM 1866MHz ECC UDIMM's from eBay. I put them in last night and they were recognised straight away without issue.

Can they run at 1866MHz or only 1600MHz?

I'm on the lookout for a deal on a processor so I've still got the stock processor at the moment. It's recognised as 1866MHz but operates at 1333MHz which is the standard memory bus CT8G3W186DM.thumb.png.35031041a426e0c6bf37679131df17e4.pngspeed for the G1610T.

That's a desktop memory, it shouldn't work.

Hi - so Kingston have recommended this chip: https://www.kingstonmemoryshop.co.uk/kingston-8gb-ddr3-hp-compaq-dimm-ram-memory-module-kth-pl313-8g

Does this seem correct please?

The description states the are registered. The MS Gen8 does not work with registered memory. You need ECC unbuffered DIMM.

Look for 8GB DDR3 1600 ECC UDIMM, this is the search string I use on ebay:

8gb ddr3 1600 ecc -registered -reg -non -rdimm -PC3L-12800R -PC3-12800R
