NVIDIA Shield K1 vs ASUS ZenPad2

7 posts in this topic

I'm taking a look at the NVIDIA Shield K1 and the ASUS ZenPad 8.0. Ultimately, I'll choose the best one for flying drones but this is a good look for anyone interested in these tablets.

If you are interested in drones I'll show you each screen while flying to see which one performed the best. Unboxing as well.

The NVIDIA Shield K1 is $199 at Amazon - http://fave.co/2mKaN2b
The ASUS ZenPad 8.0 is $129 at Amazon - http://fave.co/2nbsBGr

Which one will fly?

Looks like a good high end tablet.  I would look at them again due to the build quality but the one I reviewed wasn't up to par for more taxing apps.

Not really a tablet person - eyesight and coordination too poor for anything other than a 30" plus screen ...

... but when I have dabbled for a controller situation (my hi-fi), as I think you propose for your drones ...

... I like the look of, and may be prepared to chance,

... or maybe one of the smaller offerings in the range.

Couldn't resist when the price came down to £266.

Con

Build quality poor - one of the long edges doesn't bind properly.

On the heavy side - not for a child.

Pro

Screen is large 13.5" and lovely: bright accurate colour - photos look great, using touch functions easy.

Inexpensive.

Performance decent for light usage.

USB-C connector (but no USB-A if that is an issue).

Everything working as a Windows 10 device. No problems with touch sensitivity, auto screen rotation, wireless networking and such.

Upgrade to Creator's edition went fine via the net.

Goodness knows how no problems are visible, given the hundred's of error messages in Event Viewer.

Loving it so far!
