schoondoggy
I have tried two different leak detectors. The SmartThings leak detectors are for lying flat on a floor and monitor moisture. https://shop.smartthings.com/#/products/smartsense-moisture The Everspring/Utilitech sensor is on a cord that allows you to place it directly above a drain or sump. http://www.amazon.com/Everspring-Z-Wave-Water-Flood-Sensor/dp/B006TG9W4Y http://www.lowes.com/pd_422362-45367-TST01-1_0
Dave
Hey Schoon, Which one did you like best? The lowes price is tempting.
schoondoggy
I use both, for different applications. The Utilitech works great for drains or sumps, but the the Smartthings is better for sensing water on the floor. I attached the sensor on the Utilitech to the floor drain with a wire tie. Dave
I had a cart full of items and was headed to the HA isle at Lowe's and a silly tornado warning dropped on the area. I exited the building swiftly. I want two for sump pits and perhaps one for the floor. Then a switch module for the lights and a webcam. That's how I'm thinking of attacking this room. schoondoggy
I picked up one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H3TJ3P4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It seems to be working great and resetting itself when water is gone. corey
I just tried adding the aeotec water sensor as a thing, but it keeps getting detected as a zwave door sensor, not a moisture sensor. any ideas on what I might be missing? do I have to create a new device type?
