Having Major Problems Upgrading To Windows 10

  • 2 weeks later...

Its been a while, I know, but that's the way life is with me. Almost no time at all to do anything with my equipment etc., due to my work schedule.

OK, today I tried doing what I asked about some weeks ago. I plugged a RJ-45 cable into the side of my laptop, put my laptop onto a charger and then run the Media Creation Tool in an effort to try and upgrade my laptop from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10. It failed, again, with the following error:

"This tool can't upgrade your PC

The language of edition of the version of Windows currently installed on your PC isn't supported by this tool."

Huh? How can Windows 8.1 Professional not be supported by the Media Creation Tool?

Contol Panel- Clock Language Region

Verify that language is English US and that under region is location is US.

Control Panel- System and Security- System

What is the edition of Windows listed?

Under Clock, Language and Region it reads: English (US)

Under System and Security - System it reads: Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center

That should be fine, but Media Center has occasionally caused update issues. In the link I posted above there is a post from Andre. Try following the steps he has listed.
