Replace My Acer Hdd With An Ssd

I'd like to replace the spinning hard drive in my Acer R7-572 with an SSD. I'd prefer not to have to reinstall everything. What are my best options for cloning the content of the current drive to the new one so that I can simply swap them out and be up and running?

Many SSD's come with a USB to SATA cable and cloning software. If you need cloning software Macrium offers a free version:

The R7-572 has room for a mSATA SSD drive and a 2.5" SSD/Spinner. What drives are installed now?

So the mSATA is C: and the 1TB is D:?

How big of a SSD are you looking for?

If you ever decide to sell the R7-572 let me know,,,,

Yes, I made the mSATA drive C and I have Win10 and most of my apps installed there. I'm probably going to replace the 1 TB D: HDD (which is the original drive that came with the Acer) with a 1 TB SSD. I've got quite a bit of content on it, and although it's not half filled yet, with 1 TB, I won't have to worry about it for the life of the machine.

I'll let you know if I ever decide to sell, but it's not likely :-)

These are very unique machines. It's too bad they didn't catch on.

960GB to 1TB are running $299:

SanDisk is generally lower power, Mushkin is best capacity per $.

If the SSD does not come with a USB to SATA cable, I like these:

schoondog, what's your preferred source for SSDs?

SanDisk and Samsung are generally the lowest power, so I like them for laptops.

The Mushkin listed above seems to be fairly low power and I have had good luck with them.
