just picked up a surface 3 and installed SanDisk Ultra 64GB Ultra Micro SDXC UHS-I/Class 10 Card with Adapter (SDSQUNC-064G-GN6MA) [Newest Version] http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010Q588D4?keywords=64gb%20micro%20sd&pebp=1440599159686&perid=A9ZQ8H9E5HQ1X2VYCTZG&qid=1440599068&ref_=sr_1_1&s=pc&sr=1-1

no problems so far, it's my default save location for all documents, movies, music (about 20 gb so far) formatted as ntfs

I was looking through the Microsoft forums and have found the solution to this issue. Go to device manager, click on universal serial bus controllers. Click on RealTek Card Reader. Update this driver, select

 browser my computer then select let me pick from a list of drivers. Then select mass USB storage device. In effect you will be changing the driver from the Card Reader to a USB driver. So far this works great, I've not seen the SD card release yet.

@WolfJT - Thanks!

Switching to USB storage device driver makes it work much better now.
