AllToga
I am almost done with my data transfer after I had to rebuild my server. I'll have 7 TB of data, and ~14 pool drives. While I was copying the data over, I did not turn on duplication. Also, I had to use a temporary hard drive that I'll need to remove sometime soon. My question is which should I do first? Turn on duplication or remove the temporary hard drive? I'm leaning towards turning on duplication just increase the safety of my data. But on the other hand, I don't want to waste time duplicating the data on the temp drive, when I know I'm going to be removing it. I have enough space to turn on duplication with or without the temporary drive.
ImTheTypeOfGuy
With that many drives I don't think there is any one way that is better than the other If it was me, I would remove the drive and then turn on duplication.
usacomp2k3
Both at the same time?
AllToga
I decided to protect the data, then remove the hard drive, so I turned on duplication for everything. >6 TB of data that needs to get copied. Fun stuff.
