DangerDave
I am having an issue when trying to boot a new Surface Rt off a Recovery Drive I had previously created. I follow the specified steps:1. Insert USB2. Hold down Volume down button3. Tap power button and release both buttonsEverything looks normal, Blue recovery screen comes up, I choose keyboard layout, go through and tell it to "use a USB device". At this point the surface RT reboots and then just loops back through to the Blue recovery menu!Have tried different USBs with new Recovery data, multiple Surfaces, all with the same result! Am i missing something? Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
WolfJT
I had the same issue. unfortunately I don't know what I did to get it to finally work other than keep booting to it. I have heard that taking out the SD card has solved some issues with recovery via USB. If you have an SD card installed maybe try taking it out and see what happens. DomA
I am experiencing the exact issue mentioned above, however, there is no SD card in the SD slot, yet the boot loop still occurs trying to boot from a USB. Any assistance is welcomed. Thanks.
schoondoggy
Have you tried the Microsoft image? http://winsupersite.com/mobile-devices/surface-rt-80-recovery-image
DomA
Haha.. Exactly.. I'm downloading it now to see if I can get that to work. What I'm really trying to accomplish is creating a 'master' image from one surface I setup, with all the local & MS accounts, permissions, wireless settings, printers and such. I have to mass deploy 150 of these devices. So, I (think) have the 'master' image (recovery) ready on an USB and I'm trying to boot to that USB on a new out of box Surface to see if I can 'clone' it for all intentions. But, yes, now I'm downloading the MS image they put out to test if I can even get that to boot properly... I'll will update the thread when I'm done..
