Call Blocking On Windows Phone

Recommended Posts

In the store, go to settings > phone update > check for update. I'm sure their display models are under loved.

Are you testing this on a 920? The 1020, 925, and 520 should all have GDR2 preinstalled.

I checked it on the 520, 920, 925, and 1020 -- nothing on any.  The salesperson checked their system that showed GDR2 updates approved for the 920 and 820 and when we checked the 920 it showed an update available via AT&T -- we did the update but it still didn't show the block app.

Are you going to the microsoft store and downloading the update instead of thru the carrier?  How?

here's an article http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57606862-94/at-t-rolls-out-amber-update-to-lumia-820-920/

It may be because you are looking at the display units. Display units have a different version running on them that allow the phone to go to demo mode instead of lock screening when left alone. They also auto wake and enter demo mode when left on lock screen.

If its an AT&T store im willing to bet a sales rep that works there owns a blue 920 from when they gave them to most of the staff. Ask if they have updated their phone in the past week or two, and if they did, ask them to try the press and hold from their call history to see if block number pops up

My HTC 8X does not have that option and I do have the GDR2, or at least a watered down version of it.

okay, this sent me through a loop. But I got the answer!

Apparently GDR2 does not have this feature, instead it is a feature from Amber Update, the firmware update that went into Nokia Phones.

The problem I had confirming this is the fact that neither Microsoft or Nokia mentioned the call filter in their blog posts/announcements about their updates.

I went a little crazy trying to figure out where this feature came from, and deep in Nokia's heart, there is an area where they talk about "Settings+"

For some reason they did not mention this was being added, but is an OEM settings add on. Maybe once Microsoft complete controls the Nokia handsets, they'll spread that out to all WP8s.

So, the Blocking feature was added by your carrier in FL but AT&T is leaving it out in Illinois?  I thought from http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/8/4602014/windows-phone-sms-call-blocking-nokia-update it was rolling out everywhere.

The AT&T sales Rep did update the Nokia 920 on display to GDR2 while I watched and I saw no blocking feature

I'm passing an AT&T tomorrow, I'll swing an see if the displays have the option. This is confusing me.

Okay so today Best Buy opened up pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 920! I hopped in my car and drove down to ours and got my self one pre-ordered.

One thing though, if you pre-order at the store, it is only the matte black one. I was really wanting the cyan one but black will do. That was my second choice.

On the otherhand, if you pre-order online, you can choose which color. Weird, I know... Colors you can choose from are: Black, Red, Yellow, Cyan, White.

As of right now, AT&T has not started pre-orders. I called and verified that with them.

It appears that Best Buy underestimated the demand for the Lumia 920. http://www.wpcentral.com/att-nokia-lumia-920-preorders-sell-out-online
