Where Do You Get Your Sprites And Images? Copyright Laws?

Recommended Posts

berty6294

So I am working on my first game that I will actually be distributing for Windows Phone and Windows 8. I've made many games before but never sold them so I am worried about copyright images.

For the games I've made for the Zune I never needed to worry about copyright (at least i don't think) so I grabbed any old image off the internet. I know I can't do that with the Windows stores.

I'm imagining not all developers are artists too, so how do you guys get your images? Are there royalty free ones I can find? Easy ways to create my own images? I'm only 18 and I'm not familiar with copyright laws at all.

Thank you in advance!

Basically, if you don't own the image, have permission of the owner, or know that it is royalty free or in the public domain, then you shouldn't use it.

take a look at http://www.shutterstock.com/

They have over 25,545,288 royalty-free stock images at the moment, and add 10,000 a day.

it's very highly rated and has an amazing search engine.

use offer code: NSFW4 and get a pretty good discount I cant remember how much it is, or how much the discount is, but I know it was cheap.

The offer code comes from a Twit podcast I heard today
