I begin to wonder if Microsoft will actually only send one shipping notification those who pre-ordered online. That notice geing the cover being shipped. Then actually have both of them shipping together. Anyone agree?

My wife just signed for mine. I cant wait to get home from this trip. Looking at the FedEx tracking, this was in China yesterday! China-Alaska-Memphis-Minneapolis-my house in two days!

I suspect the tablets themselves are be handled by UPS (or FedEx) logistics division and are stored close to the destination. the notifications will go out when the move from the logistics side of the warehouse to the delivery side. I know in the past for large pre-orders I've gotten the notification the day before arrival. UPS offers logistic services where they'll warehouse product and print the labels as orders come in or are released for shipment. They probably didn't do this for accessories.

At least that's what I hope since I haven't received a shipment notification yet.

WPCentral just put up a cool article on how to track your Surface shipment even when you didnt get the notice yet.

Just did this myself and found that my extra type cover is shipping via UPS coming from Ontario, California. My Surface on the other hand is being shipped by FedEx coming from China.

Make sure to check both parcel services. :)

Cool. Well, I was wrong about being stored locally. Mine is coming FedEx and is either either still in China or on a plane. Listed for delivery before 10:30am on 26th.

This stinks - FedEx says my shipment is coming on 10/29...

FedEx picked up my shipment in Suzhou, China on 10/24 9:32p local time. Then it said "Package received after FedEx cutoff".

I checked the FedEx page and nothing listed. I can find my shipment on UPS but there is no info other than this "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated.", and there is a label created date of Oct 22nd. This is for the Type Cover only, haven't received any other shipping notices from Microsoft yet.

Lethbridge, did you make sure you followed all the instructions for FedEx? It didn't work the first time I didn't it either. Second time it did. Are you tracking by reference?

That sucks. They did say guaranteed by 10/26 so keep positive.

Tried every combination possible on FedEx website but nothing found. Not too worried about having to wait longer, just would like to know when it is coming. Although the charges for the Type Cover showed up on my credit card today, with a charge date of October 22nd.

Lethbridge - I had to change the shipping date to 10/23 to get the info to come up - try playing around with that...

Tried that, changed it to the 22nd as well. Even for the heck of it tried changing destination country to US (I'm in Canada), with every date and still nothing. No big deal though, it will get here eventually.

      Hello!

I have a Surface RT (32 GB) and it only has 1.69 GB of space left on the HD. The thing is that I have almost nothing on it (just a few apps that I check and do NOT take a lot of space, and small files), so I don't know what is taking so much space. Does anyone knows where is all that memory going? I have not being able to find it (I have checked the size of the apps, delete the trash can, delete the internet history/cookies)...

Also, I want to upgrade to Windows 8.1. These are the two ways that I have think of doing it, but I will like your opinion on which option is better (or if there is a better way):

Plan 1: take the tablet to its original status (in PC settings > General > Remove everything and reinstall Windows), move the recovery files to a thumb drive (http://www.surfacegeeks.net/forums/index.php?/topic/192-surface-rt-how-to-free-up-4-gigabytes-of-storage-space-on-your-rt/), and do all updates to take it to Windows 8.1

Plan 2: free some space by moving the recovery files to a thumb drive, make the upgrade to Windows 8.1, run a cleanup disk and defragment the drive

Making a backup of the files in the tablet is easy b/c there is not much in it, but my main concerns for the process are: I am going to loose microsoft office? is it going to ask me for any key/license number (if I ever had one, I don't know where it is)? anything else that I am missing?

      Thanks!

      Hello everybody!

I have a Surface Pro 4 i7 with 512GB which was very expensive! After a couple of months I have noticed that sometimes when I put it to sleep it won't wake up and I have to reset the whole thing. I love the device and use it a lot, and I twitted Microsoft and they contacted me and say that I have to replace it... I am OK with that but I live in UK and the service is from USA, they say they do not have my device and have to send me a refurbished one, on the other hand I can see the UK store has my model.

My question is, what do you guys think of refurbished devices? Does it affect the performance? I am not too annoyed about the issue, I just do not put it to sleep anymore, but on the other hand it is annoying that a new and expensive item does not work properly. What would you guys do? I mostly use my Surface to draw with Illustrator and Photoshop...

I would appreciate any short of advice and help!

      Thank you very much!

Looks like the first reviews are starting to pop up. Guess the embargo is over.

Engadget has a generally positive review.

Ars Technica's review runs 6 pages so it's some night time reading for me.

      Hey guys,

Will/Can Nokia become a problem for WP? Can they be what Samsung is to Android?  I appreciate what Nokia is doing and understand Windows Phone is not as open as Android.  I see the exclusive deals that Nokia not Microsoft Store is making and it has me thinking about the future of WP.

I would like to see what Microsoft does?

      Release a surface phone?

Offer a Pure Windows experience without the bloat like they do with PCs? (Android is moving in that direction with the HTC One and Samsung GS4 stock offerings)
