Cannot hibernate

I've just got a Microserver Gen8 and am pulling my hair out trying to get it to hibernate. I want the system hibernating when not in use to save power. I had a very old N36L Microserver that did this role fine. I *could* just leave it on but would prefer not to in order to save energy.

I've tried with both Windows Server Essentials 2012 and 2016 but the same thing happens in that the server just crashes when I execute a shutdown -h after making sure hibernate is enabled. I use the command powercfg /h on and check that the hiberfil.sys file has been created.

What happens then is that iLo remote console gets disconnected, and the server doesn't respond to any pings, however the blue light is on as are the fans and I hear occasional hard disk access.

I cannot re-connect to the server and have to do a reset from iLO.

I have four disks in the slots, one a system disk and the other 3 in a RAID Array from the B120i in RAID mode.

All firmware is up to date, and the 2012 install I did from Intelligent Provisioning to ensure all drivers were fine.

Anyone got any ideas or how I can troubleshoot?
