Accessing a port through as a name

Hi there,

I've tried googling this but I'm not quite sure of the correct terminology so I keep hitting a roadblock. :(

Here's the situation:

I am running a home server with WSE 2012 Essentials R2 and a custom domain.

I have an application that's running on port 8025. I can access this app by typing www.mycustomdomain.co.uk:8025 into my browser no problems.

However I would like to give this app a more dignified URL and access it via something like "www.mycustomdomain.co.uk/tracker - trouble is I have no idea how to get it to resolve like this?

My domain provider (GoDaddy) doesn't allow ports in the CNAME destinations so ideally I'm looking for something server-side to handle this.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Steve

Well, I think you're looking for a reverse proxy configuration to set this up.

https://www.iis.net/learn/extensions/url-rewrite-module/reverse-proxy-with-url-rewrite-v2-and-application-request-routing

I use this to host a bunch of stuff on my main domain (subsonic), so it shows up on the main domain rather than as an open port.

Well, I suspect that "Application Request Routing plus URL Rewrite" is the full answer here. :)

But either way, enjoy.
