Anyone using Google Wifi?

26 posts in this topic

I found when I had GWifi here it took 2-3 minutes for any devices to change to the closet hub. They use min RSSI similar to what Ubiquiti does on their APs. So your device will connect to the stronger signal and only change when the min RSSI is reached.

I've not experienced this issue. The device switches seamlessly to the nearest AP and it does so very quickly. The only device that seems to get stuck sometimes is my iPad mini, but from what I've read, Apple devices are notorious for this.

After working w/Google I have decided to return my google wifi. If you need bridge mode, I'm sorry to say that when connected in mesh mode you cannot place the primary hub in bridge mode. The only way to get into bridge mode is when the primary is NOT in mesh mode. What good is that?

And for some strange reason they don't allow setting a static IP for the WAN. They gave me some crap about the software knows its connected to a router and not a modem. I really liked the units and got very good coverage but the software is VERY limited.

Is this still true? Does bridge mode not work in mesh??

Checking in on the Google Wi-Fi users.  Has it improved?

We need a report and maybe a summary of the issues that were plaguing early adopters.  I recall that Ethernet backhaul was not enabled right?
