Got a call over the weekend from this our friend who is in her 80s. She was asking if I'd take her to the Apple store so she can get an iPad.

You sure she didn't say "Can you take me to the store so I can get an EYE patch"?

Well Bobby is now officially retired after 29 years of coaching. You will be missed good sir, a gentleman and a scholar. Go Braves!

They finally fixed the Zune software in 4.7 to work with Aero Snap properly. About time. Finally it is useful on a screen bigger than 14".

Wow, got approval from the Financial Director (Wife) to get a new laptop tomorrow, (too much duct tape holding the old Dell together!). So its all off to Best Buy in the morning (Yep we got 'em in the UK now!).

It's for "stay at home", general web use, some HD video editing (simple, not much), Phoenix RC Flight sim, MS Office, RDP to HTPC etc..

I am thinking:- Core i5, 4 Gb RAM, don't care that much about HDD storage (got the WHS for that), Win 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit.

Any comments, experiences, recommendations, avoids?

I hate sending money to the Chinese but the ThinkPad still continues to get stellar reviews along with a lot of HP models. At this point, I am hying away form Dell laptops because of quality. Their Desktops and Servers remain very good but someone seems to be cutting corners with the laptops.

Processor would really depend on what the usage will be. For what you state, I don't see why an i3 would not suffice but for sure a minimum if 4 Gigs DDR3 RAM and x64. I get a daily feed from Techbargains.com and you can follow a lot of deals there.

For instance....an HP with an i3 for $610 US

Just wanted to say sorry for my lack of support over the last few weeks. 16 hour work days in the fall are killing my free time with Connor and HSS. Anyway, time for a quick post (testing WMC to see if it is more wife friendly than my extenders - WD Live - Popbox - Popcorn hour) I will need some advice adding software to it so I can play my mkvs (yea I know I ask that alot) and to set up the hdmi settings with audio. Then "Shower time" with the HSS podcast on my Zune.

Yeaaaaay Pudding!

Don't apologize for being busy! Many of us come and go on here as our time gets consumed by other parts of our life.
