Its free for home use, You supply the hardware https://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-xg-firewall-home-edition.aspx

One thing to note is you don't get any support from Sophos and I mean none. If your thinking of going down this road Untangle another really great UTM now has a home version that has a really good price point, Its 5.00 a month or 50.00 a year for all you can eat and does provide phone/email support https://www.untangle.com/untangle-ng-firewall/untangle-at-home/

Untangle also has a live online demo if you want to check it out, Its pretty nice http://demo.untangle.com/auth/login?url=/setup/welcome.do&realm=Administrator

I don't provide solutions for other than my immediate family - I find that challenging enough. My must-haves in the area include more protection than simple nat/firewall, automated update process for both code and threat data, and no screaming in the house. Unfortunately it seems no single solution can satisfy me indefinitely. Besides seeing the ui screens I am interested in knowing via hands on reviews if I can block malware, advertising, etc. yet still watch netflix, be it on a pc or a phone.

I look forward to further reviews etc. Maybe this solution will be worth trying by the time I get let down by my current solution.

I understand what your saying. Have you even looked at the Synology router? It has more then the norm including IPS package. I am waiting for there new RT2600AC due out end of the year early next year but it looks nice, No virus package available (yet) and that does not bother me as most of our devices roam off network so each device has 'Sophos Mobile Security' installed. https://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools.aspx

New RT2600AC due out later this year, It just passed FCC according to We Got Served http://www.eteknix.com/synology-steps-router-game-computex-2016/

Am still running Sophos UTM 9.4 but have been intrigued by XG. Though waiting for the seemingly obvious functionality gaps to be addressed. That being said, pcdoc's feedback is a great indicating that's happening.

Would be interested in Drashna's take since he too has remained on UTM.

I was actually ready to fork over for the untangle subscription but it doesn't support my ISP's flavor of ipv6

Did not realize they did not support IPV6.  If it makes you feel better, V16 does.  It also supports a mixed network.

Does v16 support tunnels? I have two tunnels now, and it would be a bummer if that isn't supported.

Really considering making the move from UTM 9.4 to XG. Though my intuition tells me otherwise .

Drashna, have you tried v16 yet?

FYI Sophos responded to a tweet re: the availability of their long-awaited config migration tool for UTM to XG:

Hi, XG migration tools are being worked on and will be here soon. Keep an eye on blogs.sophos.com for the latest updates.
