Hello,

I have an MicroServer Gen8 with 4 x 3TB WD Red HDD and a P420 controller.

I want this controller because the disks are host swap and want to do a raid5.

I can't make it work but I see people (in this forum) who tested it and is running this controller.

I tried to update all the firmware with the proliant service pack 2014.04.0 and all are ok, but still cannot detect the P420 controller.

Anyone know if I need to make some changes in BIOS or something?

Thanks you.

Hello,

The P420 have 1 GB memory module and the battery ok.

I can use the Offline SSA from linux or its a live cd or something? (I'm downloading it)

Thanks.

---EDIT---

Ok,

1 - I disabled B120i controller.

2 - I mounted the live CD with the ILO virtual image

3 - Booted it (hpssa, the first option)

4 - After a long wait the SSA started cannot detect any controller.

Hello,

I finally talk with HP support center and the P420 is not compatible with HP MicroServer Gen8, only the P222, I just bought 1.

Thanks you schoondoggy for your help.

You can mark the post as solved.

The P420 does work and is compatible with the Gen 8, it is not supported by HP. Yes, the P222 is HP supported, but the P420 does work.
