As always. Seagate once again with high rates of failure, but they also account for a large portion of the total number of drives.

While the ST4000DM000 is a little over 50% of the total population with only about 2.66% failure, the ST4000DX000, which is only about 0.3% of the population, has a failure rate of almost 20%.

So, does this data suggest that the 4TB 'DM' is better than the 'DX'?

The DM is a fantastic drive.  I've got two, shucked from externals, and had zero issues from them.  Both are running nearly 2 years 24/7, in various systems (ZFS mirror, in a Synology, in an Asustor, etc, etc).
