BIOS updates: are they worth the $ "subscription?"

I have a 2013-era BIOS on my Gen 8 right now... given it's 3 years old, is it worth buying a subscription to get a year's worth of BIOS updates? Functionality-wise I don't think I'm missing anything and the system is solid, soo... don't touch it?

I don't understand how iLO and driver updates are free but BIOS requires a "warranty subscription" pack.

Your instincts are correct.  If everything is running okay, then leave it alone.

One thing to keep in mind; the HP Care Pack is a warranty, not just an entitlement to downloads.  If your machine should encounter an issue, it is covered.

However, if your warranty has already expired, this may not work for you.  Also know, the Microserver Gen8 has a pretty mature BIOS.  So you may wish to see if you can source this software in another way if you need it, even though it will not be "officially supported" by HP.
