Hello all,

Having my DSM running on a HP microserver gen8 virtualized using Hyper-V. However it seems that VMs cannot read HDD S.M.A.R.T and temperature info. How do I solve it? Thanks for any suggestions.

Virtualized....

DSM is running in a VM, with the disks passed through to the VM, right?

If so, then this is 100% normal.  HyperV does NOT pass on SMART data to the VM.  It's one of the biggest issues with HyperV that I have (that and not being able to increase resources "live").

Are you using AHCI or B120i for the disk controller?

I'm using B120i card

Thank you for the reply! How about Exsi?

Yes, I believe so.  However, you need to use "RDM" (Raw Device Mapping) to do so.

I'm a hyperV guy, so I'm not really sure how to do this.

I just checked on Hyper-V 2016 and this feature is not in there either, however they did include the hot adding of NICs and RAM.
