Linux Containers

Hm, that is interesting. I don't write code myself much anymore, but I've used Docker quite a bit for local sandboxes. I have some web developers working on micro services deployed using Docker containers on Amazon AWS. It's my cloud of choice ATM. LXC or LXD look nice, especially if I could get my data center folks to seriously look at Openstack.

Anyone spent time with LXC or LXD? Compared to Docker? Looks interesting so far: https://linuxcontainers.org/

I have been using LXC for about 2 years now. I absolutely love it. It is so very flexible. Using unprivileged containers for almost all services. I love the built in snapshots when combined w/ either LVM or btrfs.

Only time I use another virtualization technology is when the native host kernel won't work or the guest is running non-linux. In that case I use QEMU/KVM on the same host. All works brilliantly together. I even have one cluster host setup using DRBD/OCFS2/HEARTBEAT/COROSYNC.
