Wired or wireless lag?

Wireless. My last house was wired for ethernet and boy do I miss it. If Luma doesn't fix some things

I'll run some cable myself. Part of my problem is the router/modem is on the top floor and at one end

of the house, while the living room is on the bottom floor at the other end.

I have some significant lag in my network I'm using an Asus Wireless AC router and had thought about going to such a "device". What hardware do you use for Untangle? Will it complement Luma assuming it arrives anytime soon?

Per above. This would be a great demonstration topic at the meetup. Are you coming this year? Would be great to meet you in person?

What wireless band are you clients connecting to the 2.4 or 5GHz? You can try forcing the the clients that are further away from the wireless router to only use the 2.4GHz band and see if it reduces the "lag". As for hardware to run Untangle you can either run it in a VM (as I do) or a dedicated box, Untangle just released a new U25 that I think would work well is you don't use IPS. The reason I say that is because the U25 only has 2GB of RAM so you if wanted to use IPS I would recomend no less the 6GB of RAM. I do feel the U25 is a bit over priced but it does come with a 32GB SSD and 3 LAN ports and that's great and gives you options for setting up a DMZ/vLAN if needed. https://www.untangle.com/u25offer/

Here is another nice box if your willing to purchase the hard drive & ram for it, It has an Atom J1900 Quad core and 4 LAN ports, It will cost you less and will be more powerful then the U25. If I was going to use my own dedicated box this would be the one I would use, Throw in 8GB of RAM a 32GB SSD and your off to the races.

I am sorry I am unable to come this year but I would really like to. Every year I keep saying I want to come meet everyone but somehow every year something comes up and prevents me from coming. :(

I don't know anything about Alibaba, but I found the above for the same price as Amazon "with" 4GB Ram, and a 32GB mSata ssd. Looks pretty cool.

Think I'm going to purchase one next month and give Untangle a go.

Cheers.

P.S. I tried quoting the above response but every time I clicked More Reply Options the server kept kicking me to a Captcha screen to prove I'm not a robot :)

Any option for running this on my QNAP T-451+? Such as in a windows VM or straight from a linux distro?
