Upgrade Paths available for Windows Server 2016

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Does anyone know if any information has been released yet on how easily previous versions of Windows Server can be upgraded to 2016?

I am currently running Windows Server 2012 Essentials and think its about time to move towards 2016 but don't fancy a clean install option.

Ideally I'd like to do an simple "Upgrade" of my current system but I don't think it is possible, especially with the Essentials Version.

Thanks

Since you're dealing with a DC and Web Server, I doubt there is an upgrade option.

Generally a clean OS install is the way to go.

I'll be doing a clean install, most likely by moving my VM storage to a spinner and then reinstalling 2016 on that SSD, then once I'm all setup I'll flatten my old SSD that has my 2012 install on and then move my VM's back to the other SSD...
