Home Ice

Recommended Posts

I've been on a few home made ice rinks in the past and am thinking about venturing into the project. It's time to start thinking about it now that fall is practically here.

Anyone done this?

You would have to get one of these to keep the ice surface nice and flat.

My dad built rinks most winters when I was growing up (I'm looking forward to continuing the tradition). If you're going to be playing hockey or just batting pucks around on it, try to find a few long wooden planks (say 2x8's) to use as 'boards'. They're perfect for keeping the puck out of the snowbanks. Also, a few pallets for behind the goals is a good idea.

If you're thinking about doing this, start keeping an eye out for spare wood, it really makes things a lot easier.

Great outdoor project here in Baghdad too!! :P

I've only ever seen one even though the younger son played Juniors up in Canada. some sort of ice cleaner would be nice to have.
