Recommend Adding VMs to Domain?

Drashna, do you recommend joining the Windows VMs to the domain and installing the WSE Connector within them and running backups that way? Instead of adding the VMs via the Windows Server backup scheme?

That really depends. 

 

For important VMs, I actually do both (such as my workspace VM). No such thing as too many backups.

 

If you use both, just make sure they run at different times. The snapshot stuff can cause issues, and prevent it from being backed up properly (vss errors .... yay....) 

 

 

However, since most of my VMs are for work (testing), I don't bother. I do back them up in case I forget to take a snapshot before testing, but aside from that? No, I don't install the connector software.
