Hi,

I have a question regarding the cache memory for the p410. In the specifications I read that it supports 512mb and higher 800mhz DDR2 memory. Now I am wondering if I can use the 512 DDR2 500mhz memory I have on a p400 raidcontroller that's lying as a spare part, and if possible would the speed difference affect system performance?

I am fairly new to hardware, and was offered to buy the p410 without memory or battery it being the reason I am asking.

Greetings
Doris

No. They're totally different. The P410 uses a cache module that has an edge connector like a PC DIMM. The P400 uses two friction fit connectors on the back of the cache module.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003AP9RKGis the P400 and the cache module attaches using the two long beige connectors.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JNUWH2is the cache module for a P410 and you can see the edge connector on the bottom.

You will need to purchase the correct P410 cache module and the correct P410 cache module battery for your card. Make sure it is for a P410 though. Earlier and later generation cards are different.
