Should the new Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit for Windows 10 (adk 10) be installed in MS2012r2 to help with Windows 10 client backup restoral. If so, how to install this new kit over the old one? The built-in setup for client restoral service seems to only respond to the older adk 8/8.1.

Shouldn't really make any difference. It is just the version of WinPE that is used to create the client restore disk (meaning you'd need to clear out the existing one and get the dashboard to recreate it).

Basically, you need to do this:

JDFrench3, unfortunately you will have to revert to the 8.1 ADK

I tried to force it to use the WinPE from the 10 ADK, by creating a custom image with these instructions:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/library/dn236868.aspx

But that gave me an error 0x32 unable to customize the image

In the end I had to remove the registry entry pointing to the custom boot image location, reverting to a pure ADK 8.1 environment

Note: you don't need to use the WinPE from 10 ADK to restore client computers that are/were running Windows 10
