CAL required for homeuse

Hi, 
If i install 2012r2 on my server will i need to get a client access licence for all the devices that are sending/receving data from it?
i'm thinking of running some virtual machines on it, will each client accessing the VM's need CALs do you think

If this is for Windows Server 2012R2 Essentials, and not Standard or Datacenter, then you don't need any CALs. The Essentials SKU (version, not role) does not require any CALs as long as you only have up to 25 users or 50 devices. 

 

However, it doesn't support HyperV except in a VERY specific configuration. Any usage outside of that config is a violation of the license. 

 

 

 

If you're using Standard or Datacenter, then yes, you need CALs.
