Greetings all,

I have been lurking around a while now. Initially I was going for the Gen8 MS, but when I saw ML10v2 came out, I thought I would give it a try.

The place that I got it from, they only had Pentium version available. May I ask if the chipset and board the same as the Xeon Version? I am looking to get a CPU like E3-1231 v3 or 1241 v3. Will it work?

thank you!!

I forgot to mention that I am in Hong Kong. I tried to order from New egg or Tigerdirect, but Newegg won't ship to HK and TigerDirect was charging 270USD for shipping.. So my only other option was to order from Germany and the shipping was very reasonable. Nonetheless, they only have the Pentium version.

I was looking at some CPU, found the newer E3 chip that was launched last year. They end with e3-XXX1 or e3-XXX6 v3. So I wonder if they are almost plug and play for the originally Pentium board.

You can check the HP Maintenance & Service Guide -- starting around page 35 it details how to change CPU's

My ML10v2 came with the Xeon E3-1220v3 so I know that works -- while I suspect other members in the Xeon E3-1200v3 family may work I have not seen proof of other Xeon CPU's being installed so you would be on your own if you ventured to the newer v3's (hopefully, as folks try different things they will let us know what works and what doesn't :) )

Thank you for the information. I will study more on it.

I found this while googling and guess the set up works...

I also found this at a really good price. It's engineering sample so there's a bit of risk I suppose. I spoke to the seller, all chips will be tested before they get shipped. They guarantee the quality for 1 year.

Yes, you can run any Socket 1150 in the ML10v2.

Personally, I've tried a Xeon E3-1225v3, an i3-4350 and the original Pentium in my ML10v2, and had no issues.
