Better make those Seagates mirrored with something else. Or at least make them triple-redundant.

I think thats why he got rid

Its 2x 2014 model 1tb platter drives

and 2x 2010 model 250gb platter drives

they where in a failed raid state with one of the 2010 models

having like 3000 pending sectors

i have zero filled and verified the other 3 drives they are fine

no bad sectors or reallocated sectors

gona bin the bad one

the HP LSI 9217-4i4e 8-port SAS 6Gb/s RAID Card PCIe 3.0 8x

that i picked up for £28 the external port wasnt working

i removed the shielding cleaned all the contacts with a dip in iso propanol

and cleaned the copper earth points with a fibre glass pen

working fine now

FItted the HP LSI 9217-4i4e 8-port SAS 6Gb/s RAID Card PCIe 3.0 8x earlier

Firstly They dont support port multipliers and totally failed to see anything on the port with it plugged in

which i suspected would happen but had my fingers crossed anyway

Secondly at current house temps my fan is at 13%

It was at 19% with the LSI 9217 within a few mins

anyway its back out again and im back to the Marvell 9230

Think i will look for a marvell sas card at a later date as they support sata inc multipliers native

instead of encapsulated in sas packets like the lsi's do
