I am looking for a picture frame that can display images from a network share.  Don't seem to really find any.  Anybody have any ideas?  Also maybe thinking of doing a DIY using a small cheap PC and a small 15" monitor.  Any thoughts on this?

Last October I was in search of a few digital picture frames myself to replace our tiered discontinued "Kodak Pulse" frames and what I found is it seems the two top brands are Nixplay & Pix-Star, these two brands still seem to be the top brands today. If your primary use is going to be streaming pictures from a network share then the Pix-Star is the one you want-

The only thing I can add is as of last year when I contacted support before I purchased it was though you can view pictures from multiple sources such as pictures that where emailed to the frame & pictures from DLNA clients you could NOT view all those sources at the same time, You need to select what source you want to view at any giving time. This was not going to work for us because I did not want to change sources all the time and it was more important for use to see the pictures that where emailed from freinds and family so I purchased a few of the Nixplay frames and they have been rock solid and the company is always adding features to the frame but Nixplay does not support network shares at this time. https://www.nixplay.com/

Thanks for the feedback.  Have to say really liking that Raspberry Pi option.  Mainly it gives me an excuse to buy on and tinker with.  :)

Otherwise that Pix-Star frame sounds like it does what I need if I just want to order it that way.
