It's that time of year again! No, not Christmas! CES! The Consumer Electronics Show is the biggest of it's kind here in the states and it kicks off every January with a week of shows, products, keynotes, press conferences, and Vegas. Oh, did I mention Las Vegas? Well, yes it's held in the "Sin City" adult playground but the funny thing is I rarely gamble when I'm at CES even though I'm a huge Vegas junkie.
I'll be in Vegas from January 6th to the 11th and I'll be getting my hands on as much tech gear as possible. I do it very differently however. I don't visit a booth and then find a corner and blog about it. That is so freaking boring and we both know that there are tons of sites that do that and do it well. Then there are sites like CNet, TPN, Verge, TWiT, etc that have a studio set up and people come by and talk to them. I don't have the budget for that and besides, I want to see the gear!
I'll be roaming the show floor with a portable studio in hand and a producer(@jcollison) in my ear and I'll be looking for anything fun, cool, and geeky. I've covered it all in the past. I simply can't stick with tablets and servers although there will be plenty of that. I like to find odd tech, fun tech, etc. I like the big TV's, the cool toys, and the latest trends. I roam, I report. All the while you can be in the chat room watching live and talking to me. I relay questions as well as take requests to find gear. It's a blast and I hope that you will join me in the live coverage.
Stay tuned to Twitter in order to find out where I'm at and where I'll be. @surfacegeeks @homeservershow You can also stop by the Live page of either site to check in. Jim Collison will be streaming live most of the day and when I'm not live from Vegas he will be there and talking about what is going on. You can join in with chat and there might even be opportunities to join in live.
Going to Vegas? Drop me a line! If we can't meet up on the show floor you are invited to an official Meetup with myself, The Surface Geeks Podcast and The DMZ. That information can be found here. This meetup is going to be fun!
I hope to see you watching the live stream and having some fun with us the week of CES 2013. Set your calendar and a reminder!
