Yesterday the news hit everywhere that Microsoft had a Modern UI app unlike any other on the app store. You may have read that first here at Surface Geeks too. It was nice to see some big news outlets throw SG a bone by linking to the original news. ZDNet here, Engadget here. Thanks guys, errr, ladies.
I saw a few mentions of the name "AppMagic" when referenced to Project Siena. While that moniker is technically correct, AppMagic is what the project is referred to internally, it likely will not be released from beta with the name. ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley nailed the fact that the name AppMagic has been frequently used up to this point. My sources tell me that it's one of those names that just "stuck" and "that's what we call it." It looks unlikely Project Siena will be released as AppMagic proving my suspicions that the name was too general.
I have created a subforum here at Surface Geeks for discussion about Project Siena. Hey, maybe we can even name this thing! The forum can be found here. Feel free to post your thoughts, questions, and screenshots of your projects in this forum. I expect it to get lively!
In closing, another issue I saw discussed yesterday was not being able to publish Siena apps to the app store. I can tell you that there is a method in which to do so with yesterday's build of Project Siena. It will take some time to refine the process and get it on paper for you. Hang tight!
