What about your data?  If you are a home subscriber you will get 60 days on top of your normal expiration date.

You can migrate your data to their Small Business Plan for the remainder of your subscription and 75% off for the next 12 months.

Surprisingly enough, CrashPlan is pushing home subs to Carbonite!  https://www.carbonite.com/

How much does a Small Business Plans cost?

      $10 a month

It's $10 a month per device though. If you are using multiple your price is going up.  There are a lot of caveats however. You can move over 5TB and there is no computer to computer backup option.  The 75% discount sounds like a decent deal but it makes me nervous with so much data moving about and changes happening.  I would first and foremost, make sure you have your CP data backed up somewhere else.  Then decide what your next move is.

If you are a CrashPlan subscriber you need to read up and read well.  It's a sad day in my opinion.  CrashPlan was held in very high regard throughout the years here in these forums.  Stay tuned to this thread and the RESET podcast as we break this down and discuss options.

Meetup 2017 Registration - $20 This fee guarantees you a spot at Meetup 17 as well as breakfast and lunch. You may have heard the story but one year I didn't charge a small fee and a ton of people showed up for the free food and a ton of others cancelled! So I had way too much leftover BBQ! This is a PayPal transaction. If you would like something different please PM me.  Use this link - PayPal $20

    • Speed Tests of Eero, Orbi, and Almond 3

      Variables and Location

This test was performed in my upstairs office.  It's a normal sheetrock house.  The office is fairly large without a lot of objects in it.  A couple of desks and tables.  Not a lot of large metal objects.

The PC is to the left. See the lovely box holding the ASUS external antenna? Yea, classy! I tried to isolate the antenna from the case of the PC.  The Device under test is on far right on a wood cabinet.  I have the Orbi shown as example but at time of photo it was not plugged in.

Another wireless system is on during testing. Access point is downstairs.

Neighboring wifi can be seen. One to 2 AP’s usually.

No other devices on in test room.

My phone is on in my pocket. Connected to downstairs AP.

Device under test under test is 20 feet away from Source PC antenna.

Device under test defaults are used. No setting changes made.

Device under test is in router mode. No setting changes made.

Device under test is connected to the Internet.

Device under test is connected via 25 ft. Ethernet Cat 5E cable to Target PC.

Test performed is iperf3 using a 200 Megabyte test. Test is run 10 times. The top and bottom speed are tossed and the remaining 8 are averaged for the result. Result are in Mbits / per Second

    • I just talked with Richard Hay, from Super Site for Windows, and we chatted about the upcoming eclipse.  I wanted to share some info with you about that conversation as well as see how you are preparing for the viewing.  I've got some resources that Rich shared with me that I think you will want to see prior to eclipse day.

      Are you traveling?

      How are you viewing?

      How are you documenting?

I'm thinking about pulling my kids out of school so they can witness it safely. I haven't talked to the schools yet about their plans.  I was assuming something would come home in their backpack soon.  I have glasses for them though.

I also plan on putting the drone in the air to get a good shot of the landscape as it darkens during the middle of the day.  How cool is that going to be?

Great American Eclipse - TONS of info here

Can you cover a camera with Eclipse glasses?

Also, share your stories. What a great chance we have to share our different perspectives of this once in a lifetime event.
