Here is an off brand external drive.  If you are in the market for a 500GB drive to backup up your shares this is a good start.  Use this code on checkout to make the price $79.99.  EMCBCBBAB There is also a $20 rebate bringing this drive down to $59!  Good deal.

You mentioned, "I found another DVD Burner/Reader that could be paired with HP’s MediaSmart Server." Does this mean that there are only certain dvd burners that will work directly with HP MediaSmart Server? How does it work to add one of these drives? Do you need to remote desktop into the WHS OS and install drivers? Any info on how this works would be fantastic. Thank you. Graham

Ok...well I went out to BestBuy and picked up this Pioneer DVD/CD drive: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=869... I plugged it into the back of HP MediaSmart Server and hoped it would work. Well, it worked like a charm. No drivers, no muss, no fuss. Drive seems pretty solid as well and couldn't be simpler. My goal is to rip my dvd and cd collection directly to the homeserver. I probably have about 50 or so movies and about 350 CDs. So far I've chosen MyMovies for WHS for the task and have only tested it so far. I like the cd ripping options as it lets you rip in two formats simultaneously. I have chosen FLAC and MP3, so I can use the FLAC files for streaming via Sonos (on the purchase list) and MP3 for portable music. Anyway, thought I'd share my experience so far with other WHS enthusiasts. Thanks.

    • Let's start small with the definition. If you know about podcasts already you can skip ahead.

What is a podcast?  There is no set definition but in general a podcast is a voice recording on a subject that you can usually listen to however and whenever you want.  Let's break these down a little bit and that will also help define the term for you.

    • Here is something that wasn't planned but came to me while I was at Unveiled.  The Unveiled event was a little lackluster so I had a little fun with the DJI Osmo Pocket.  Take a look.

    • TP-Link's Wi-Fi 6 Routers
I talked with TP-Link about their AX series routers.  The Deco X10 is a Tri-Band mesh router that will come in a pack of two for $350.  I was told Q3 for release but if that sounds like a long time don't forget that we don't have anything that will talk with the AX standard yet.
It's a good looking box that I hope will perform well and have plenty of features.  I've read good things about the Deco series and there were a few good sales last year on the M5.  I really should test the M5!

Here it is.  Yes, it's huge! Not a hockey puck like the M5 is.  What do you think?
