The next version of Windows Home Server that we have all known as Vail is ready for download on Microsoft’s Connect site. If you’re a fan of version 1’s Drive Extender this is the version that will break your heart. There is NO Drive Extender in this version of Windows Home Server. Having said that, this is still an exciting release. Remember, this is a Release Candidate build, meaning we shouldn’t necessarily call it a beta. When Microsoft releases a RC it means it is very close to RTM, or release to manufacturer. We are that much closer to a 64 bit version of Windows Home Server.
What will you do without Drive Extender? Well, that’s why we are here. Home Server Show and it’s community members will have plenty of information for you and have already built a nice repository of information on running RAID with WHS.
