So here is a thought I had this morning while catching this podcast (a little late listening, I know, I know... ) I have always thought it a security risk to have port 3389 listening over the internet. Anybody who is scanning knows that 3389 is a good place to launch an attack, seeing as how it is a direct gateway into your network. WHAT IF... with this amazing application that utilizes uPnP to configure things, you create a web interface. (Ie: From public internet, hit your PC's URL and come up with a login prompt for userID/Password) If the credentials pass on the web interface, the utility configures port 3389 to listen on the router/firewall, and then you can successfully launch a remote desktop connection to the server/PC, etc.. Then after you disconnect your session, port 3389 no longer is in a port forwarding state. ?? I thought that would be a REALLY great application with regards to security for this great little util. I'm not a programmer, otherwise I would consider development myself. Great show Dave!
