Great show. I am listening to all the episodes and just completed by first WHS build so its interesting timing with PP2 coming out just as I am getting this set up. I was leaning towards a MediaSmart box but the Media Center integration now and in the future makes me think I will like the extra horsepower in my home build which is total overkill right now. Dave, you have a great podcast voice for whatever that's worth, it seems to calm me when I am stressed out...

Would love to have a shot at the book as I am a complete newbie, built my box using the OEM DVD and have no idea how all this works just yet but I have a great feeling about it.

Dave, love the show. Please give me the free book. Much appreciated.

On another note, I agree, I would like my WHS to BE my Windows Media Center. My guess is that this will eventually happen.

Nice show.

I for one am very interested in the integration between Media Server and WHS. I've been able to use my HP Media Connect and XBox360 to access files on WHS, but the interface is not as nice.

When Win7 gets released I'm tempted to get a media server with a cable-card (since I need to update a PC anyway), but I'd like to use my WHS to store the media (and really manage the extenders too). With all the Comcast changes coming, I fear that an unencryted solution will no longer.

Good show Dave. I am not a person who uses Vista. I tried it and just gave up on it. Like alot of people on this site, I am a home builder who doesn't buy a pre-built and tested configuration where all the drivers are there/etc which didn't play well with Vista in the early years. As such, I am not a Media Center user since that product didn't embrace XP.

I use a 3rd party software for my TV recording (Snapstream) running 2 digital and 2 analog tuners. I have a home theater PC running XP that is in my living room in a very nice component-like case. I would love if there was a way to integrate the non-Media Center with Home Server.

Maybe PP2 and this episode will spark me into finding a solution to do what I'm looking for...

I'm getting ready to do a build of WHS (right after I go through Dave's checklist of course) but I'm wondering if MS has a D/L WHS that has PP2 already slipstreamed? I wouldn't mind benefiting form the easier install process PP2 now affords us.

I tried murphyr64’s link and it's slashdotted:

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.

My PP1 version number shows it's not RC1 . . . but I'll try the PP1 uninstall anyway . . . Thanks . ..

I also have the MSDN WHS-PP1 in a VM . . . I'll play with that a bit and see if I can locate the PP2 install file . .
