The Home Server Show 193

We’re back and there is a lot to go over this week.  Windows 8 has hit MSDN and TechNet and UR3 is available to Windows Home Server 2011 owners.  We take a look at Windows 8 and install UR3 live on the show.  We are also taking a look at some new Microsoft hardware, how long physical media lasts, and a bit on a bad battery backup system.  We have a new segment called “Listener of the Week.”  Who will it be?  Download to find out.

Don’t forget the video! They YouTube of this episode is live on my channel:  http://youtube.com/homeservershow

hi. good to see win8 content here. lots in common with new server products, storage spaces being very pertinent topic for discussion. just wanted to point out win8's "dirty little secret" – while MS is saying if your computer will run win7 it is fine for win8, yet it turns out there is a hardware dependency on data execute protection capability. if your cpu doesn't have it, doesn't matter whether you can run win7 or not. with the enterprise 90 day trial, you end up with a little bsod equivalent printing out some codes and telling you your computer needs to be rebooted. so what happens if I buy my $50 upgrade and this happens? do I get my $50 back?

    I enjoy your show!
    thanks
