Southern Wisconsin Windows 7 Launch Party

Windows 7 Launch Party

October 22nd is almost here and I’ve been prepping equipment for demonstrations of Windows 7, Windows Home Server, and Windows Media Center.  I’ve taken over my basement bar in order to configure some of the equipment.  Even the TivoCenter mod is going to get some action!

Windows 7 Launch Party Prep

This is the Media Center/Extender demo setup.  The backend is the HP MediaSmart Server and the workstation is a normal Acer computer.  TivoCenter is connected to the small flatscreen via HDMI and the extender connects to it via composite video.

This is only about 1/3 of the gear that will be running the show.  There will be three workstations running fresh copies of Windows 7 for the public to use as well as some beefier rigs for doing demos.  I’ve also got some stuff from the Microsoft Employee store for give-aways.

There is no podcast this week due to the mayhem surrounding this demo.  I do need your help though.  I’m asking all listeners and readers to do some “tweeting” for me.  If you live somewhere near the Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison area please tweet your peeps about this demo.  If you do live close by it would be great to see you!  If you don’t live anywhere near this area I would still appreciate your tweets and effort.  There is a button on this article that you can RT with.  I’ve never asked for your twitter help and it’s “faux pas” to ask for re-tweets but if you don’t ask sometimes you won’t get anywhere in life!  Thanks again for your help and I hope to see you at the launch!

The event is 3 to 9 P.M. at the following location:

Holiday Inn Express (meeting room)

1680 Madison Avenue

Fort Atkinson, WI 53538
