Netgear Press Conference at CES 2010
A very happy Vivek Pathela, VP and GM of Home and Consumer products introduced the press conference and Netgear’s motto for a prosperous 2010. Netgear is the heart and soul of home networks.
The first product up was the Netgear Stora (MS2110) – With this little gem you can backup and share your videos, music, and more. I was impressed by the speed of the stream to his iphone and he even shared the password with a press member in the audience and he was able to get a stream as well.
Netgear showed a quick demo of enhancing SD internet Video to Near-HD. They showed a TV on the left that was stuttering and trying to catch up with the video and a TV on the right that had a nice stream running. This new technology will be integrated into multiple new Netgear products like their popular routers, bridges, and powerline devices.
They are also introducing the first 4×4 mimo 11n video streaming solution to come out in the spring.
They showed a nice powerline adapter with a pass through plug. The 200AV+.
I thought this was a cool switch. It’s the home theatre gigabit AV switch. Allows you to prioritize and optimize with color coded ports on the back of it to assign. Looks to be very smple for home users and it will be interesting to see how the priority works with the ports.
I think the Stora and this theatre switch were the most intriguing products in the demo. They did have their entertainment series products and of course all of their new routers but the these two caught my eye the most.
I’m going to spare you from all the press release material. There is a ton of it. Although, I was sitting beside Terry Walsh of wegotserved.com and he was typing much faster than I was so if you want more Netgear info head over there!
