HTC Desire on US Cellular unboxed
If you were less than thrilled with US Cellular’s first Android powered device you are going to like the HTC Desire. The Desire is exclusive to USCC in the states but HTC does have a GSM version available for the rest of the world.
Here are some quick specs on the Desire as well as a good look at the phone.

Notice Advanced Task Killer and antivirus installed on the apps screen. The US Cellular rep told me that they are required (or it’s highly recommended) to install these two apps before the phone can leave the store. I also threw in some shots of the Desire wrapped in the Body Glove case. USCC had a silicone wrap available as well. The rep also told me it was running the “latest” version of Android so I quickly showed him that it was 2.1 and not Froyo. He didn’t know if or when Froyo would be available for the Desire.
I didn’t have that much time with it before it was snatched away by the owner(wife) but the phone felt great and was very snappy due to the 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. The Flash Lite seemed to work well with the homeservershow.com podcast flash player. I did have navigation issues with it since I’m so used to everything being on the screen for navigation. I felt like the touch experience was diminished by having to use the back button as well as the menu and home buttons on the phone. That is just something I would have to get used to.

The antivirus app seems pretty silly. Was it preloaded or did the rep install it himself? Advanced task killer is a cool little app to have but the antivirus app is a first for me.
