HP Launches the x510 Data Vault Windows Home Server for SOHO
HP has announced a new business line of Windows Home Server aimed directly at the SOHO market. The X510 Data Vault is targeted to first time server buyers and businesses with 10 to 20 users. There will be three versions of this new server that offer a multitude of different storage options.
The X510 will be available for order direct from HP on October 1st and availability will be October 6th to 7th. First tier distributors like CDW, Insight.co, etc will also have the Data Vault at this time. Second tier distributors should have the box on the 6th or 7th.
Pricing will be set at $699, $859, and $999. Stay tuned for more info and photos of the x510.

Your reporting 10 to 20 users. Can you confirm ? I thought WHS had a limit of 10 users.
Yes – not sure where the 20 users comes from – given its using WHS OS it will be limited to 10 clients for backups. Although more can access the shared drives I believe. The other great news is that it will be released in the Australia & New Zealand markets – good to see HP entering new geographies with WHS based products

Glad you caught that. This version of WHS on the x510 is not a special one. It still has a 10 user limit.
HP is targeting 10 to 20 users due to the fact that a small business may have 20 employees but they only need 10 computers protected. I think the lingo of "10 to 20" is so they don't instantly exclude a business with more than 10 employees.
