In Topic: Order some parts finally

I have 4 x 1tb drives from my old box and 2 new x 2tb drives and a 256gb ssd to play with. I am going to test the Intel rapid response and see if it works or not. I got the Z68 board for $99 yesterday on sale and wanted to try the SSD caching.

Thanks for the input on the case, I was just looking for something nice with side-loaded drives and I don't my boxes apart very often. I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks for the responses! They also have a 600 watt for the same price. Guess I will go with the 700 then, just in case.

You can use Crashplan for free. Backup to an external USB drive at our house and then take the drive to another location (Work, Parents, friends, whatever) and hook up the drive. Crashplan will continue where you left off on the backup. I've done this and it has been working great so far. If you want backup sets and versioning I think you have to pay for Crashplan.

In Topic: Backing up a machine with TPM?

is TPM actually enabled or just a feature of the laptop? Does you use a smart card to login? Does she have a bios level password on it?

If you can get into the BIOS then I don't think TPM will cause you any problems. Like jmwills says, but another drive and go for it.

Thanks for the response. The answer is not what I wanted, but it was what I was expecting. I'd love to move them to windows 7 but that already got shot down this fiscal year.  Looks like I will get some blue drives and clone them over.

Thanks
