So I was finally able to back up and restore my yoga with no issues.  The solution was I setup a virtual server 2012 essentials pc.  Once I ran all the normal updates, there were no issues at all.

Guess I'm switching to 2012 essentials from 2011.

Perhaps you'll tell us? :D

If know one else knows - I may try it on another laptop.  I just used my windows pro 8 upgrade key and my media center pack key on this one.  As far as I can tell you can't re use a media center pack key.

So I am now trying to restore my UEFI laptop (Lenovo Yoga) to ensure that actually works - after installing the UEFI update.

What happens if I use the 32 bit restore option to restore a 64 bit OS (windows 8)?  Choosing the 64 bit option gives me an error.

I was finally able to download the update and thankfully I can now backup my new yoga.  I also had an issue restoring my macbook pro boot camp partition.  I wonder if this update will fix that as well?
